Company Overview

Since 1898, Knape & Vogt has been in the business of motion.
What began when John Knape purchased the assets of the Grand Rapids Cycle Company and established the John Knape Machine Company on Campau Street in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has grown into a global leader in functional hardware, storage solutions, and precision movement systems. From the beginning, KV has approached design challenges with mechanical expertise, practical innovation, and a commitment to products that perform reliably in the real world.
Today, Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company remains headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with manufacturing and warehousing operations in Grand Rapids; Chiayi, Taiwan; and Petaluma, California, along with a supporting location in Chicago, Illinois. Our products serve original equipment manufacturers, specialty distributors, hardware chains, major home centers, cabinetmakers, contractors, designers, and homeowners around the world.
KV designs, manufactures, and distributes a broad portfolio of functional hardware and storage-related solutions, including precision, Euro-style, and utility drawer slides; wall-mounted shelving for commercial, residential, and garage applications; kitchen, closet, and bath storage; office and healthcare ergonomic products; and specialty hardware. These solutions are offered through a family of recognized brands, including KV®, HyLoft®, Closet Culture™, Real Solutions for Real Life®, John Sterling®, and Shelf-Made®. Through KV Powered by Samet, we also offer an expanded range of hinge systems, lift systems, drawer box systems, and fittings available exclusively from KV in North America.
Behind every product is a team focused on engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and continuous improvement. We refine our designs, processes, and go-to-market strategies to deliver greater value, better performance, and dependable solutions for the industries and customers we serve.
For more than 126 years, Knape & Vogt has been a reliable resource for OEMs, cabinetmakers, contractors, trade professionals, and homeowners. Quality materials, uncompromising manufacturing standards, and intelligent engineering define products used by millions of people every day.
We are in the business of motion — making products that move, and move well. That means solving problems with precision, improving how spaces function, and continuing to move forward without standing still.
